Good Deed from Revive Network Stopped
Whats up gamers, you know what bugs or makes my fangs grow? It is when a group of gamers that decide to keep fans happy by keeping their favorite titles alive. Or those that want to share their own take as a fan. I remember a time when things of this nature would be rewarded or commended, these good deeds that happen in the gaming community that only a select few know about and appreciate. However, it hardly ever lasts when the companies bring down the “Cease and Desist” order to halt all good things that these gamers are doing. The sad part is they do it for free and even when having to deal with a few ungrateful people, they try to make the community they happy with the services they conduct. Not everyone does it for free though, but donations are encouraged, but not obligated.
So today EA dropped the hammer down on Revive Network who resurrected such titles like Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142 and the scrapped Battlefield Heroes. They supplied the games and the servers with a full staff of developers, moderators, and artist keeping this games breathing. Sucks when a business doesn’t see the good and only sees a threat.
We will get right to the point: Electronic Arts Inc.’ legal team has contacted us and nicely asked us to stop distributing and using their intellectual property. As diehard fans of the franchise, we will respect these stipulations.
Over the past 3 and a half years, Revive Network has filled a void in nearly 1 million players’ hearts by bringing favorite titles back to life after online services were closed after the GameSpy shutdown. Only a few months ago, we took on the task of bringing multiplayer services online for a fan-favorite, Battlefield Heroes. The public reception for our efforts on this title were massive, and we never expected it to become as big as it was.
At this time, file downloads will be disabled.
This is probably the part where we have to say good bye. Before we leave the battlefield, we would like to thank all of the developers, artists, moderators, and last but not least every single player that helped make all of this a reality. Without you, it would not have become such a great time.

How can you ignore those results? To play a bit of devil’s advocate I get it. There are licensing issues, the original developers could make a stink about this and of course the worry of someone else profiting on something you gave up on. But on some real talk, these are the people that you should hire. They are the ones actually caring about the fans and understanding what needs to be done. I mean they took something that was dead in the water and revived it (no pun intended). How can you on the Publishing side, company side and developing side not see the benefit of this? I wish the Revive Network team best wishes and someone notices their hard work. Those are the type of creators I want making games in the future. – Beast Out –
