New Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Announced
So, today was the Nintendo Direct special stream showing off what new things will be coming to the family system. To our surprise, we learned about a lot of pokemon details today and I will go through them in order.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team
This is a port from the previous titles being brought to the Nintendo Switch. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX has a coloring book art style that is fitting for an update. I am not going to pretend I was a fan of this series, because I never touched the Mystery Dungeon games. However, it has a nice following and I will definitely give it a try now. It is an interesting take where you play as the pokemon instead of running around catching them.
Be sure to check out the Nintendo eShop for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX demo.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Revealed
Trainers will be able to jump right into their new adventures with the same save data they have been using to play Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. They will also be able to begin exploring the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra at almost any point in the main games. Whether a Trainer has just recently started their adventure in the Galar region or is well along the path to becoming Champion, they will be able to enjoy the new content as soon as it’s released.
In the beginning, there was some backlash for Sword and Shield, but some of us had the right mind to be patient to see where things will go. We are in the age of expansions and DLC. this giving many games a longer shelf life as long as it kept things interesting. There will be two new expansions rolled into one package of The isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.
The Isle of Armor Details
In this expansion, Trainers will head to the Isle of Armor, the stage of a new adventure in the Galar region. The Isle of Armor is a giant island full of environments not seen in Galar before. There, players will find wave-swept beaches, forests, bogs, caves, and sand dunes. There are also plenty of Pokémon that make this island their home, living freely amid the lush natural surroundings. There’s even a dojo here that specializes in some very particular training styles. Trainers and their Pokémon will take up an apprenticeship under the master of this dojo and train hard to become even stronger.
The Crown Tundra
This expansionis set in the snow-swept realm of the Crown Tundra. The Crown Tundra features a beautiful shining, silvery landscape. In this frigid area, with its jagged winter mountains, people live in small communities where they support and rely on one another. A certain person will appoint the player as the leader of their exploration team in the Crown Tundra, where Trainers will be tasked with investigating the reaches of this frozen land. Here, Trainers will be able to explore the full depth of Pokémon Dens, which they’ve so far only been able to glimpse in Max Raid Battles.
The first expansion The Isle of Armor will be released in June of 2020 while The Crown Tundra will be released in the Fall of 2020. Each will give out new uniforms, areas to explore and of course new pokemon to discover. In the Pokemon Expansion reveal they did show off Galarian Slowpoke that seems to be a fire type. The new legendary type is quite awesome. Introducing Kubfu which is a new Wushu Pokemon that evolves into Urshifu.
In the evolved form Urshifu will have a single strike and rapid strike forms. Two different evolutions that will be either Fighting/Dark or Fighting/Water-type. Now the trailer didn’t dive too much into the other Tundra Legendary called Calyrex. It will be a new Psychic/Grass-type. This pokemon was known to have ruled over the Galar region back in ancient times. This always brings me to think that maybe there are some pokemon with immortality or decendents maybe.
New Gigantamax Forms
Our starter pokemon is getting an upgrade with new G-Max Forms to give them that extra power. Also, I did notice in the video of the Direct that we got to see Blastoise and Venusaur in their G-Max forms as well. These two were highly anticipated pokemon for a while especially since they gave us Charmander. It is all looking good.
In this final note, there is a Galar competition going on right now called Pokémon Shield Galar Newcomers Online Competition. I would click that link to get full details on that and I hope to see you in the versus area during that time.
There you have it, trainers. Pokemon Sword and Shield is the first game to jump on the Expansion scene and I am pretty impressed. However, I still need more details to justify the $29.99 price tag. But what say, you fellow trainers? Are you all in for this expansion and do you have any ideas that Gamefreak could take into consideration that is reasonable that is. Please share your thoughts in the comments below. I shall see you all on the battlefield trainers. – Beast Out –
